How bad does it look if I leave consulting right after I hit the 1 year mark (first job out of undergrad)?

Details: I’m dying doing control testing in Advisory and I can’t switch groups until year 2

Not bad at all. You’re 23

like

I don’t wish that upon anyone. But ya, certainly not a terrible look, but it’s probably good to display some staying power with your next gig

like

I think you’d be fine. I would just say something like it wasn’t what was advertised and you weren’t challenged enough doing controls testing. Most people can relate to how that would be terible

like

It does not look bad, but you can also explore and set up well for the transfer if you like the company. Network in target area, do a good job even if your work is boring, and move in one year. One year it not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and D is a good place

like

I’m getting pigeon holed and I’d rather get out before that actually happens

like

join smaller consulting firms. unfortunately big firms have that habit of pigeon-hole as it comes with the business model (it’s an unspoken truth)

like

If you leave on your own and can get a job quickly, no one will think twice long term. This early in, it all goes towards building your overall experience and finding out what you want. Any good manager should be happy with that explanation. Anyone who’s pissed you didn’t stick it out for the good if the company or some such BS you wouldn’t want to work for anyway.

like

Not bad. If it’s not for you, that’s cool. Over the years in this job there will be many that you feel like not doing. If you think you’d rather do something else no one will hold it against you

I left after one year and none of the hiring managers for industry roles batted an eye

I have been offered a position at a non-US B4 with a 2 year path to partner. I know one of the partners at the local firm and have the support of the regional service line lead, and am bringing a specialized skill set they are trying to open a new business around. The KPIs seem achievable and I’ll be in charm school to help build support within that timeline. Most of me thinks a 2 year path under these circumstances realistic but my inner skeptic is jaded. Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?

What's triggering you to feel exhausted, negative, or lose your motivation?

We all start our jobs full of hope and promise. That same hope and promise may still be there. However, the eventual grind or consistent overcommitment of anything will trigger you towards Burnout if you are not aware of them.

Be aware if you are consistently over-committing to something that will burn you out. Take breaks. Change your patterns. Whatever you need to do. Just don't overdo it.

I have worked in marketing for about 6-7 years. First few years were in social media management. My goal is to work at a big tech company.

1) How much does Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. value MBAs in the hiring process?

2) Anyone currently working at the companies above with only a BBA?

Current situation: Marketing Manager, 90k, NYC.
