The vaccine was *never meant to reduce transmission* only to lessen the probability of a severe outcome. The fact that it DID lessen transmission in studies is a bonus.
Hope you feel better soon

If you’re not in the hospital with severe illness, your vaccine did exactly what it was designed to do. No manufacturer of COVID vaccines ever promised full immunity, just a very small chance of severe illness. You should still be happy you took it, you might have been hospitalized otherwise.
Are you really this uninformed? No one has ever promised that you won’t get Covid with a vaccine. The vaccine trains your body to better fight the infection and nearly zeroes out the risk of hospitalization or serious risk from Covid
Hmm prove it
The vaccine does not protect you from GETTING Covid. It only lessens chances of severe symptoms.
Just had covid + Moderna, it sucks, but you will survive. Of the over the counter meds, Tylenol is your friend. Drink a ton of water, like more than you think you’ll need. Soup is also the move. Consult a health care provider, there may be recommendations to take low dose aspirin for a few weeks to reduce your blood clot risk.
Agreed with above. It doesn't prevent infections. It prevents severe symptoms that can lead to hospitalizations, long term damage or worse death.
It’s so crazy to me that the communication about this disease is so poor in this country
Me too. Had covid before, got the Pfizer vaccine, just tested positive again. Felt crappy and flu-like symptoms but that’s it. Totally sucks but clearly it’s not as rare of a possibility as I had originally thought! Hope you recover quickly!

Let’s not spread misinformation. It’s not “many” infections at all considering 6 billion people are vaccinated, based on that is more like 0.00000007%. It’s considered rare.
Also, a vaccine protects you against hospitalization and death so that’s the accomplishment. Wish you a speedy recovery
Sorry to hear that OP! Hope your symptoms are not too strong and you‘re feeling better soon!
I just got it too (vaxxed with Pfizer ending in June). Felt pretty crappy for like 3 days, all good now. Drink a lot of liquids and sleep.
In the same boat OP. Moderna and breakthru covid. Immense sinus pressure and taste/smell gone. Above recs have helped (soup, Tylenol, fluids, sleep). Sucks but at least it’s not severe. Find it ridiculous that D reduced their covid sick time off to 8 hours with all these breakthru cases. Gonna need to burn pto
You’re legally entitled to covid PTO in New York fyi
How is that breakthrough infection. We all need to get one to add natural immunity to the vaccine immunity.
Covid is Endemic
Bruh, what kind of question is this?! I hope you don’t die, but you still need to take precautions, bc not everyone is vaccinated. That’s how this works. Wear your mask, distance while indoors, and wash your hands.
"Have been hearing of so many breakthrough infections lately"
Only because the mainstream media has decided that's what they want to us to hear about now. I was curious about this so I was just looking at the history of this term on its Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Breakthrough_infection&offset=&limit=500&action=history). The page has existed since 2006, yet coincidentally this history shows a sudden spike in activity starting in April 2021.
My point being that no vaccine is a magic shield. Their only job is to *help* prevent people from getting sick, or from getting really sick. The way they do this is by trying to help your body's own immune system learn how to fight off the invaders. Not that much different than a country's military force on the ground of an ally's territory, trying to help their military succeed.
