Yes! I’m careful about reading the non compete carefully but have picked up several as clients. A few have remained personal friends. I’m in speech therapy though, for kids, so it’s a little different. I’m a big believer that boundaries are defined by each individual not some blanket policy. And boundaries can be different for each client. I always have the discussion openly with them about what we both prefer and need the relationship to look like. That way it’s all transparent and clear. Mutually communicated boundaries :-)
Awesome! That’s up to the both of you, then. Do each of you WANT the same thing? If you both do then definitely have the chat about boundaries and pros/cons, risks & benefits of remaining as friends. If ONE of you is not comfortable with that then say you have a boundary that needs to stay professional. You don’t have to give any other reason if you don’t want to. Same rules as any other human :-)
