She is saying what a lot of people are thinking but don’t have the guts to say. Props to her.
Spouse (a lawyer) actually works on research regarding race and the criminal justice system at a uni. The so-called stats cited by Candace are not representative of the overall interactions between Black people and the police. In any event, the country is governed by laws, including the constitution. An individual, regardless of what they may have done in the past (or present), is entitled to due process. The police should not act as the judge, jury, and executioner in this case. As such, simply because George Floyd had a criminal history should not justify his murder. If you are truly interested in learning more about the history of Black people and how they have been treated by people running our legal system, I suggest researching about the Equal Justice Initiative, which is started by Bryan Stevenson, a Harvard-trained lawyer who dedicated his career in helping people on death row obtaining fair trial.
TLDR of Black history in the US
You work on a farm for no pay (Slavery). You’re told your first paycheck is going to be a grocery store with an apartment above it to live in (Freedmen’s Bureau Act 1865) but then that doesn’t happen (President Grant 1869-1877). You get a job as a house keeper/laborer and save enough money to buy some land in cash at the edge of town where very few people live (redlining, unfair lending practices) and you’re only allowed to sell apples (segregation). You have to follow various building codes that no other businesses in town have to follow or you’ll be shut down (Jim Crow Laws). Your apple store becomes very successful and the town grows to extend further around you (Black Wall Street) but a jealous grocery store owner from the old part of town burns down your store (Tulsa, OK Race Massacre, 1921). Even after you rebuild, your town decides your neighborhood is the best place for a new highway (Federal Highway Act 1956). But that’s ok, you can rebuild yet again in any part of town you want without those extra building codes now (Civil Rights Act 1964). You dream that one day you can become a full fledged grocery store but for now you can still only afford to sell apples (racism). But the policeman comes by all the time now because the law says they have to visit businesses everyday that were rebuilt for any reason (Tough on Crime, 3 Strikes Rule 1990s).
The policeman used to bully you in class (slave patrols 1700s) and that kept going into adulthood (southern sheriffs enforcing Jim Crow Laws 1880s-1960s), but at least they stopped chasing you when you got to your old part of town. When you started your business they started stealing your apples (excessive force, lynchings, etc). You always ask the policeman to stop stealing your apples and they never did. You then ask the business association president (state govt), mayor (fed govt) and even the policeman’s momma (police union) to talk to the policeman to get them to stop stealing your apples/bullying you (protesting police brutality, too many names and dates and historical events to mention). You have tried to keep the policeman from stealing the apples yourself and everyone in town criticized you for it (conservatives, republicans, other races, etc). After you show your friends (allies) and family (other races) the receipts of how much the stolen apples cost you, they try to help you prevent the policeman from stealing from you (Civil Right protests, 21st century protests, George Floyd protestors) and everyone in town starts to criticize all of you (Candice Owens and others). You find out the other jealous grocery store owner has been buying your apples and telling everyone they’re his own home-grown organic non-GMO apples while selling them for even more profit (cultural appropriation, theft, gentrification, etc). But really, it’s your own fault for not trying harder.
I would love to like or share her video myself but would instantly be dubbed a racist by coworkers and some friends.
Chief
Looks like it’s an 18 minute video. How about a summary?
Yep, everyone I know agrees that George Floyd should NOT have been killed. And all commentators I have listened to on both side of the aisle agree on that.
What’s obnoxious is people keep saying “listen to black people”, but when a black person speaks and deviates from the script that is being pushed, the first move by many is to dismiss everything that is being said. The reality is people that say “listen to black people” seem to mean “listen to black people that promote the approved narrative”. The negative reactions to Candace Owens is demonstrative of much of the overbearing hypocrisy in our society.
Yea. Just like when people say “get out there and vote”, they don’t actually mean vote, they mean vote only for the candidates that they approve.

I agree the oversight from independent review needs to happen at the least. Probably some other stuff as well.
I'm a little worried that people are going to try and make this about Trump. And use this as a political football. Then that is going to mess up the chance for real change.
Who is Candace Owen?
A woman with a backbone of steel and her feet in cement. She doesn’t care if the haters hate and knows her values and owns them - doesn’t cave to mob mentality
