I’m an awful worker when I’m home. I guess if I did it consistently, I would get used to it. But now I basically do the bare minimum. Watch tv and drink with lunch lol
Yes. I find myself getting engrossed in a few tasks throughout the day but other than that just chilling...
Working from home is great occasionally. Personally, I found it detrimental to my career and potential for advancement. Especially in consulting where face time matters
I am actually more productive and efficient at home! Not chatting with coworkers as regularly helps me focus and get work done quickly and efficiently. I still work a full week, but can work fewer hours to get everything done than I would in an office.
I find myself working more when I'm at home bc it's hard to shut off and go home since you're always home. It's easy to just say ok I'll answer a few emails after dinner and then next thing you know it's 11 and you're still working. At least at the office you go home and you're out of work mode and there's a clear delineation. Also, people SEE you working in the office so you don't have this guilty feeling to prove you are working all day
Agree with PWC4. Again, WeWork from both angles here. No colleagues to catch up on in the office to drag you to lunch and no laundry/dishwasher/Man in the High Castle at home. You’ve got to outsmart your own situation sometimes
I either get more work done than usual or basically nothing. There’s not much middle ground.
Yes. And having a toddler makes it particularly unproductive
WeWork saved my consulting career
This is exactly what I need, but I don't wanna pay for it myself. And I know IBM won't pay for it.
MC1 - did you expense it?
Yes - great relationship with my partner to get it pre-approved and at the end of the day the case is easy to make when the intent is to produce for the client and our firm
I thought IBM wasn’t allowed to work remote
IBM - I’m by myself
Yup
I have a list of what I need to accomplish and check it off as I go, so I can objectively tell I was productive, but I definitely don’t *feel* productive most of the time
I've been remote my entire career (3 years now).... I think I need help....
I do it maybe one day a month and I get nothing done
More productive at home. If only Uncle D would spring for some big screen monitors.
I work from home almost every day and love it.
