When i was a fresher my salary was below tax slab so my external exployer did not generate any form 16 for me. When tried to switch my new organization wants me to submit form 16 as BGC process. does it make you laugh
usually the obvious answer is the best!
Why does an art director need to be funny
Where did I say an art director needs to be funny? I’m doing a freelance job and it’s a funny brand. I would assume an art director that understands and can pull off humor would be a valuable asset.
If they make work that makes you laugh — they’re a funny art director. But it doesn’t mean that THEY’RE funny necessarily.
I’m a funny person in general, but can’t write funny to save my life. I’m more “clever” if anything.
But why do they need to be funny?
Pro
Funny as in ‘a person you’ll have a laugh with during the shiz storms of our business’? Or funny as in ‘has ability to create comedic work’? Both good to know, but you should also know that as you grow in this biz you’ll find that comedic work is just one flavor of advertising. You’ll eventually be asked to do emotive work that makes people cry, or enlightening work that makes people rethink what they know, etc.
A person’s cv and coverletter can say a lot about the personality. Designs not so much. I can say that as an art director myself because every project has different requirements and brand ethics. The tone of a coverletter can say a lot tho. Or while putting out a job role keep your description witty so that people who actually resonate with you apply for the job.
Sometimes you can’t I think. My book looks funny from the cover but I also like to think of more serious topics when it comes to advertising. I guess just ask them, what type/ kind of ads do they like, what is their favorite work and why?

Find a partner for what? For spec work?
Freelance campaign work.
Not sure if a book would tell you that. You need to actually talk to potential partners.
Look at their visual concepts- do they make you laugh even when the copy isn’t present? The best funny art directors can pull off funny visuals without copy.
But also the ones who are great with comedy tend to have a funny tone of voice in their writing too. Look at their writing in their portfolio and the way they describe themselves and their work. Does it feel witty and succinct? Do they inject bits of humor?
That being said you’re probably looking at junior art director books. When creatives first start out a lot of them don’t have the clearest sense of what they’re good at yet. So I’d say go off vibes and see who makes you laugh when you talk to them.
