Are thank you emails after an interview necessary? Sounds like overkill to send a COO and GC thank you emails when they have 5k different things going on. My last two interviews I sent thank you emails I received rejection emails in return. It does appear to be a good way to streamline the decision process lol.

Anyone here in partnerships management or business development or strategic alliances development? I’m in a BizOps role today and have been trying to break into this space without much luck. Hiring managers / recruiters always say the same thing when they do give feedback - that they’re looking for someone that has experience in the same role. What’s the best way to break in? It’s not like there are business development classes like there are coding classes where I can learn the job.

I have one pro bono case that I kept when I left my firm to go in house. It’s a matter completely unrelated to my company and I have malpractice insurance through the nonprofit organization associated with the case. I’ve made clear to my client that I’m repping this client in my personal capacity. No one has asked me specifically about pro bono stuff at my company - if I know there’s no conflict of interest, is this something I should disclose? To whom should I disclose this?

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? I’m so burnt out by big law and this seems like an awesome opportunity to help shape a newish company. Any tips on how to figure out if this is the right move for me?

My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. How does your company manage (track) all of the documents related to a merger you are working on? Are you using a matter management software, a spreadsheet, shared file, etc? Keeping up with the moving pieces is killing me with just a spreadsheet.

When my job is to handle all the corporations issues does it ever get hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Like that this business will survive? It will get its next round of funding? I have the option to leave Biglaw for in-house position at Fortune 100 for 320k TC with 10 YOE in HCOLC. This is my first in-house role and so I wanted others' thoughts on TC range for my level.

What’s a fair expectation for my first raise? Publicly traded co with ~2500 employees. I’ve been doing litigation with the company for almost 3 yrs and have only had a 2% cost of living raise so far. Graduated in 2014. Base comp is $127.5k in the Philly area. I see salaries all over the place in this site and it’s hard to tell whether mine is competitive.

What’s the practical different between Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel?

Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?
