Any recent grads here who moved back in with family during COVID times? How much do y’all contribute every month to “rent”/groceries/utilities? Idk, I feel like I’m not contributing enough sometimes…

I buy them dinner, clean regularly without being asked, buy groceries and run errand. And I’m just good company to keep everyone sane.

I don’t contribute anything. I’ve offered but my family refuses to let me pay for anything.

Live in NYC. The only thing I contribute is I make dinner for them and do everyone's laundry by going to the basement of the house. Then, I fold the laundry.

I didn’t contribute to rent when I moved back to my parents’ house during 2020/202,but I paid for the entire household’s groceries and takeout, internet, games/activities, cellphone, and streaming. Since I was the youngest of the household, I was the one that did the outside errands while my parents quarantined. I also cleaned the house.

Toronto, $50 for my share of car insurance and $550 these days for rent/food. I don't eat that much even with inflation, ideally it's going towards tax free retirement savings

Junior Associates - How much student loan debt are you and your peers in these days? A few young partners and counsel at my firm were discussing the student loan moratorium and most of us were convinced we could have paid the majority of our loans off with the bonuses associates got these last two years. But we are all old and when we graduated 150k to 200k was about the max student loan debt people graduated with. So educate me. What is the average student loan debt these days?

Not sure if this is the right bowl but hoping to get some insight. I have a lot of student debt, and am considering refinancing with First Republic bank to get a (marginally) lower interest rate. However, their version of refinancing student loans has changed in the last couple years so now they offer you a personal line of credit. Is it a bad idea to refinance with a line of credit vs a regular student loan refinancing?

Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year).
