Are there any adaptive phonics platforms you would recommend? I know Moby Max and Reading Eggs are some, but does anyone have any recommendations for others?

I was a person who used to love to work. Then I started working crazy hours because of crazy project for almost a year. Felt burnt out and depressed. Took some time off (3 months) to calibrate myself. Now back at work but still feel so demotivated and cant help but feel work as a burden. Anyone feel the same?

Which of Shakespeare’s comedies works best with grades 9-10? I really like “Twelfth Night” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I’m wondering if anyone has ever used “The Taming of the Shrew” or “The Merchant of Venice” and can give me students’ reactions to one or both. I’m really tired of R&J and they get tragedies in other grades. BTW-It bugs me that I can’t italicize book titles on this app. I’m I the only one?

I try to give my students feedback forms throughout the year. I teach on-level 10th grade English. There are some kids that just won’t write anything. They write “idk” or “nothing” in every question. It is so frustrating. How do you get them actually answer the questions and care?

Are any of the ELA teachers here also directing school plays, either by choice or by obligation?

I happily directed three plays a year for all 28 years of my career, but I know some teachers get "stuck" with doing the plays. I would love to be a resource, particularly for those in the second situation.

not sure what to do for Bell ringers... 11th grade English. I want to do SAT/ACT practice vocab. I would like to do grammar, but we're not allowed to teacher that in isolation.
Ideas?

Several years ago, I stopped teaching Shakespeare plays line for line. Instead, I have the kids do a variety of activities to learn the plot, the characters, the history, the language, the literary devices. We watch the plays. We read and analyze the important quotes, soliloquies, monologues, and dialogues. How many teachers out there are teaching Shakespeare differently than the old standard: read an act, take a quiz? And how is that working? Are students more engaged? Best strategies?
