Hey fishies! I’m looking to take a leap into the remote world. I am a Sr. Graphic designer and art director in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦. I’m looking to take on more of an art director and creative director role, remotely. I can attach my website and a portfolio if anyone can help out. I have been designing professionally now for just over 15 years now. I work very quickly and very well with other team members. I also take on freelance work. I’m married with 2 kids so the more work the better.

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?

How do you know you’re a good designer? I get most of my ideas from being inspired by other work and just creating what I feel looks good. I know how to use design programs. But, I don’t know if that’s enough.

How much time should I expect between starting a UX design boot camp, doing a job placement program with portfolio building to landing my first gig? I hope to be able to work quickly because I’ll have 15-20/week devoted to learning.
