Squad — parents came to the States from India with high school educations and no money. They hustled, gambled everything by starting a business and it took off. They suggested I do law in college because it’d be helpful to them and now I’m useless to them because I do regulatory work lol
Great to see. I feel like I have nothing in common with most of the other South Asians I meet in biglaw, whose parents themselves are doctors, lawyers, professors, etc.
I'm with you. My favorite feeling is when my dad takes pictures of newspaper articles that mention my firm's name and texts the picture to me. 🥲
Gah. This was lovely.

I’m with you! My siblings were the first to go to college. Parents came here with barely anything and no higher ed. It’s incredible what they’ve done and how they’ve helped us succeed.
Yes!!! Right here - both parents were underprivileged, no generational wealth or higher education. My dad came here went to a community college and my mom was an assembly line worker, but both managed to give us a middle class life. I’m an attorney in big law and my brother is an investment banker
Anyone here that live in Dallas? Moving in a few weeks and looking to make friends!

Please count me in. East Asian,
Both of my parents don’t know any English. Had no tapping water in our apartment until 2001. Lived in extreme poverty.
