I only come here when I see a post that I think might be helpful. I also stumbled upon a post from someone complaining about "barely surviving" on a $400k HHI and that was fun because I got to share it with my friends.
Almost 3 years in, and yes I’m still here. Even with the market being a dumpster fire, networking comes in handy for freelance and short-term contract positions while waiting for something FT with benefits.
I cope with 1) Effexor ER lolol and 2) understanding that all I can do is network and optimize. I can’t control the external, so I might as well just chill. No use in getting my blood pressure up for these disloyal companies.
I’ve actually traveled, gone back to school, and picked up a lot of new skills during this time, so it’s definitely time spent well. If you can, take some time to truly think about what you want to do and how you can get there. Explore any and every path forward, even if it’s out of this country.
I’m only here when I don’t have a job. Best place to get the tea about all the places to avoid.
You have to be your own boss and friend. Don’t look for jobs all day everyday. Give yourself breaks. Try to have interviews on the same day to avoid burn out. Allow yourself time to rest. It’s a lot of work having to be “on” all the time.
