Getting there bit by bit, especially with the post-pandemic landscape, the agency is losing its soul. It’s all about influencers and chasing paid media.

Yes. Specifically I am tired about how SEO agencies play defensive as a default, where any client request is a "Yes and" addition (often for free) so companies get caught in a perpetual cycle of scope creep which leads most of them to default back to doing little beyond baseline tactics. Updating Metas, suggesting new content, building links, looking at page speed. It gets repetitive, but with so much time devoted to unplanned, unstaffed tasks, there is no time to do the experimental stuff and think of what pushes us further (if your company even considers this worth investing in in the first place)
I worked in house prior to this agency so I can't say it's much better. I think it's an industry problem more than anything. We're really unsure of what we want to be, or selling our value beyond saying "we wrote you 5000000000 pages of fresh content"
Change agencies if you’re bored. Find one that sells innovation, the avant-garde, etc.
