I don’t think that’s it. When I read it. Insurance 1 is just throwing out possibilities. It’s a hard question to answer because there are too many factors involved. I would think about how the you were treated by your favorite boss and try that.
Why do you think that it’s not read? Are deadlines missed? If so, have one on one conversations with your team.
Were you a good choice? Are you competent? Are your staff more qualified than you? Did one of want your job? Are you trying to change things as a newbie? There are sooo many reasons for a team to dislike the new manager. Put yourself in their shoes and be the manager you’d want. Ask them what they need/want from you.
I don’t think they are liked or disliked. However, as a professional it is assumed you read all emails from your manager timely. Given the OP said they assume they are not being read, then they are being ignored or deleted, as what other option is there? Also, why would anyone assume they are being not read unless conversations reveal that or deadlines are missed? Why would team members not read the emails? Something’s up. If more than one member isn’t reading emails then there’s a problem that needs investigated. Best place to look is with yourself first.
I always put read receipts on all my emails that are important and save them in a file so I have both the original and the read receipt.
Now if the person pulled it up and then immediately closed it out that’s on them not you.
I think because people feel too comfortable with their positions and don’t take work seriously…
