This is normal for Strategy consulting
yeah i will mention the most important / strategic projects had the worst WLB. the boring nonsense is what keeps it sustainable, ironically.
If you’re doing CDD only, this sounds fairly normal. Maybe you squeeze a couple extra hours out of thurs and fri. But it’s a constant grind at the below partner level
I work 9-1 AM, so I dunno what you're b&m-ing about here

Normal in my experience
😢
DD?
Yeah, have been on diagnostics through the year
Definitely not ‘Normal’ to work 16 hour days - 4 days a week. I have been in Mgmt Consulting for 6 years and have had ‘top ~10 pctile’ rating 2 of those years with 2 promotions. While I have worked 16 hours days for probably less than 5% of the time, my usual hours range from 10 to 12 hours most days. With travel, it’s longer but I have mostly decompressed on flights - sleep, snack, Netflix, lost in thoughts etc.
This definitely comes down to the culture in your sub service line, your direct report manager / partner and your client. I hope I’m not the only one with this experience.
You’re not at a T2.
Are you logging the hours? I am sure your firm has a policy that prohibits ghosting hours so start. Once management sees the hours they will reduce your workload.
Doesn’t work like that
Definitely normal. It’s why most people only do consulting for a few years and then try to jump to a better bizops / corporate strategist role at a tech firm.
LEK? and no, i’ve done that very occasionally. i tend to be at around 10-11 hrs per day m-th and 8-9 on fridays if that. luckily mostly remote as well.
Not LEK, I take my own bio breaks 😤
I average more like 8-7pm
