I was definitely home alone at 13+ with my 2.5 year younger sister. During the summer I spent most days sleeping lol. I think 14 is definitely old enough to keep watch of the younger children, given that premade meals are provided
All day, every day for the whole summer when none of the kids can drive feels a little much to me. Instead of thinking of a person as a babysitter, can you find someone (male or female) you could trust to drive the kids around and keep them entertained / referee when needed?
Agree … even if it’s for only 2-3 days a week … bring someone in that can prevent them
from sitting at home all day watching tv.
Personally, I let my kids stay home alone at 12... Well, one kid wasn't mature enough to be left without adult supervision until he was 15, but I was still pretty nervous about it lol
I think it depends on the maturity and independence of your specific children, you would know if they are trustworthy or not. The one thing that gives me pause is your teenage sons watching over your younger daughter, I don’t trust boys that age and I wouldn’t want something detrimental to happen
14 years old
It says that a child at the age of 9 is able to stay at home alone I think you could base this off of their level of maturity I mean I have a 14 and 12 year old and they stay at home alone all the time I have never had an issue we also live in a very close community where nobody sleeps with their doors locked either they play with the neighborhood kids all day long and have been since they were newborn we have also lived in this house for 20 years so we know everyone including the HOA we live in a cul-de-sac so we know when a strange vehicle comes down the street we have never seen before so I would say that if google says a child can stay at home alone at 9 and that is the law in the state of Georgia which is where we live so if you are in the /Atlanta area then by law you are able to leave the kids at home.
