Back to work today after a week off and I wish I didn't take time off. What in the world happened that needed over 200 emails?!

How do you deal with email overload?

I block at least my morning back and protect myself from meeting overload the first day. Accepting non critical meetings doesn’t allow me time to be thoughtful and prepare to participate well anyway. I also do email on my vacation… just getting rid of junk so it’s somewhat mindless but helps to have smaller inbox. Also out of office and direct them to someone else can also help a little:)

Funny you say that because I am in the same boat. Been off since last Tuesday and I was dreading come in to work today. Opened my email inbox to 173 emails and I think about 90% of them went straight to the trash because they weren't anything I needed. Coming back from vacation is so stressful because I already feel so behind.

Try to use filters and also categorize. There are a lot of outlook hacks if you use outlook.

I’v been in digital marketing for almost 5 years. I want to switch to marketing operations or research, because I find I’m better at and more interested in market research, audience research than keyword research or writing ad copies. I applied for some marketing research and operations roles, but no luck.

I understand I don’t have enough direct experience and platform experience, like Nielsen.

Any advice?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

Hi, looking for some advice. I’ve been a medical assistant for 10 years, and am finishing up my bachelor’s in healthcare management. However finding hard looking for practice or office manager positions, as they’re looking for people with 3+ years of management experience. How can I get an organization to take the chance to invest in me and give me the opportunity to prove I have what it takes. We all have to start somewhere.
