Silicon Valley 100%. On the whole, I feel its safer, there's as many good restaurants, and there's not as much poop on the ground.
Coast, SF, East Bay, North Bay
So, basically everything except Silicon Valley lol
Silicon Valley has more room to breathe. There's still plenty to do, but it is slower than the city. It really depends on what you want out of life. Are you looking for safety and peace or excitement and danger?
What’s your definition of Silicon Valley?
Im in palo alto area now, lived in sf for 2, and the east bay for 4. They all have their pros and cons. SF is a poorly run city and the homeless/drug problem is real, but some of the neighborhoods are a lot of fun. Even in the tenderloin there is a dive I love going to as well as some good restaurants.
SV is full of yuppies, stanford snobs, vc douches, and tech bros. But easier to get around, don’t feel so squished in all the time, and it’s nicer just walking around/hanging out without wondering if you’re going to get accosted.
Silicon Valley 10/10. SF is just so unkept and unfortunately ridden with (quite rude) homeless folk. Open drug use on the streets isn't uncommon. The Bay is a big area though, so maybe look into areas surrounding where you've been looking!
