Rising Star
I was on twitter in the 2010’s and took a very long hiatus. I inadvertently downloaded X the week of the election..I enjoy the user experience but I find my feed to be very politically focused.
At this point I’m just a bit confused as to how do I get less politics and more things like art, pop culture, dumb memes etc. I guess I’m engaging with the political content so it keeps popping up but I would like to see a lot more variety on the platform. That’s my biggest gripe otherwise I enjoy using it on a daily basis.
Yes, it's what you engage with. I've experienced that as well. If you make an effort to engage with what you are looking for, the algorithm will learn and curate it better.
Liberals and leftists absolutely LOVED Twitter until the conservative voices weren’t banned any longer.
They love to think that reality has a liberal bias, but AI has proven that conservative voices will always reign supreme without censorship holding them back. Reality is based on survival of the fittest; Or simply “merit.”
Leftist ideology drowns without censorship.
MAGA people are socially inept enough to think that being the most obnoxious, loud and hateful people means you’re “supreme.”
Has it ever occurred to you that the rest of us just find you supremely annoying and we have better things to do than breathe the same air as you?
I've had Twitter since 2010. 15 years on the platform and it has been amazing how quickly Elon has ruined it. Its a shell of its former self and the feed has become SO politically polarizing. Its exhausting.
So while I don't hate Twitter, I do hate what Elon has done to it.
MD1 agreed it is like they lost the advantage so they opted out.
It was sliding before Elon. And now it’s not something I’d ever use on grounds of principle.
PMM he very pro Isreal. He recently met with Netanyahu. Musk also agreed to not provide internet access to Gaza through his satellite company Starlink without Israeli approval. DP&M just look foolish with that stance, as these are not Nazi-like behaviors. Perfect example of Godwin’s law.
It’s a channel like any other. As marketers our job is to drive value for brands, not to base strategy on our personal political beliefs.
How does it create value for your brand when you're not taking a stand against the fascism Elon and his co-president Trump promote? Are your clients idiots? Or is being a YesMan-style company the reputation you want?
Now that the constraints have been removed Twitter(X) is now more of an open dialogue platform.
This is not a binary question. Both. But 'him' first. It is who he is that drives his politics - which quite frankly, is agnostic. He's purely a transactional personality. I dislike immensely and know not to trust such personalities.
It's still true, a fish stinks from the head down. The culture of any company starts at the top. And who Musk is seeps into every aspect of X. It is not there to foster community - but to foster whatever he wants. Because X does not serve the customer, it's useless. The customers looking to be in the mindset for my products/services, are not on X. Then, drill down and look at the exponential growth of the bots. The targeting is useless, quality engagement slid right down hill.
The old Twitter was awesome at targeting my key demo. The new platform gives me garbage.
Yes- and I will never go back. But for more perspective, I also deleted my FB, Instagram, and Prime accounts as well over the last three months. I don't want to continue directly supporting billionaires. I know that's almost impossible in a capitalist economy, but it's something I have control over personally.
So you’ll only support millionaires? Do you keep a spreadsheet of folks net worth so you don’t accidentally support them?
I never liked Twitter and then When it started getting political I liked it even less. People can say anything they want and there are no consequences for people spreading misinformation or hate. Freedom of speech has never meant you can say whatever you want. You can’t yell fire in a crowded building without consequences and you can’t lie about a person or business without being able to back it up with facts. There used to be laws that regulated that sort of stuff.
Use twitter for my personal life, I find it the best way to get sports news/ Comdey posts.
In a professional setting we do not use twitter. We find it a place for intense emotions, and a place for internet trolls and bots. Not the best environment for advertising.
Like it much better. Enjoy getting POV from all parties and opinions even if I disagree with the take.
I agree you can’t learn in an echo chamber.
Social media is cancerous to relationships and social engagement.
Elon musk made twitter better, but it (and all other platforms) are still cancerous.
Better? How so? I bailed the minute that lunatic took over.
Why do we need to discuss this here? What's the point?
Agreed New Pig, that is what I was wondering.
Nope, X is fantastic and I have massive respect for what Elon has accomplished, whether I agree with him on everything or not.
It has never been better.
TL;DR:
Before Elon, it was majorly feminine emotionality. (Think of the uselessness of or scorn for HR).
After Elon, it is majorly rational masculinity. (Think of the necessity of or respect for Founders).
Before Elon took over it was a cesspool of progressive degeneracy where anything right of center was "fact-checked" and de-platformed faster than you can say "Epstein didn't k*ll himself".
Now, it is factually the most balanced platform in terms of conservative vs liberal split.
The only ones who complain are regressives who are used to living in a kumbayah echo chamber free of consequences as long as you are a minority.
Community Notes FTW!
Don't generally use it except when I can't watch space launches via SpaceX' or NASA's site.
Installed it whenever it came out, used it sporadically for a year or so and then got rid of time wasting apps. Just reinstalled when SpaceX started using the platform for livestreams.
I was on Twitter in it's early days, when it was used by mostly college students to find friends when they didn't have anyone's cell/adress/phone #. Wild huh? I didn't have much of a use for it. Then it got popular and pretty interesting but eventually it got disrespectful and abusive.
It is a poisonous cess pit of dog whistle politics and it's owner is the most dangerous man on the planet. Other than that, it's great
Well that is a polarizing view.
How is this even a question? Twitter/X is tainted fruit from the tainted tree. Elon Musk killed it. If you need your question answered, you only need to look at his salute at yesterday's US presidential inauguration ceremony.
My target audience isn't on Twitter lol so we don't give money to them.
