Becoming friends with coworkers has been such a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, it’s amazing to have people who truly get the day-to-day grind—sharing laughs over coffee or venting about deadlines has made work so much better. But I’m starting to wonder: how do you keep things professional, especially when tricky situations come up, like giving constructive feedback or being on opposite sides of an issue? I don’t want to risk the friendship or seem distant, but I also don’t want blurred boundaries to create awkward moments. How do you handle this balance? Any strategies that have worked for you?

OP I feel this. You really have to be careful about making friends at work because those same "friends" will stab you in the back ig gvien the opportunity. I have learned in corporate America most of the time it is every man for himself. THats not to say you can't make friends but you do have to be careful.

It's probably best to not get too close to coworkers, especially if you're at different levels. A good rule is to be friendly, but not really friends. It's fine to talk about things other than work, but getting too involved with someone's life can interfere with things in the workplace at times. And that's a lot of stress and complication that is best avoided.

I will say this I love working with the students . I love getting to know them . I smile to myself when I go to work . I still feel this way after last week being asked my three different people about doing something where I told them that I was not going to do. following day I was then ambushed by admin (where I have never felt more like nothing. Following this encounter with people in charge I had an anxiety attack. This was terrible and I have no trust . TAs are mistreated. Similar story?

I am so tired of being treated like an assistant and I’m at a loss on how to correct it. When do you think associates are usually let go in small practice groups that are currently being overwhelmed with work? Is it when it starts to slows down or when they already have a candidate to replace you? Just trying to figure out how long I have after annoying a partner 😂.

Random question, my boss wants me to become a notary so I can handle notarizing all of the official documents myself. Has anyone else been asked to do this for their employer? Is it ethical?
