A bit extreme, still relatable

Probably not good to gaslight people who are sharing their experiences, D1
No, I’ve never thought that. At their worst Generally people are either thoughtless, dumb, or uncaring.
So instead of setting you up to fail, maybe it’s a situation that they think is low key and safe. Or they think that you seem happy and comfortable, so this time you’ll be fine. Or maybe it doesn’t even register to them that you’re bothered. Or maybe it’s something they consider super minor and they think to themselves “this is minor, OP just needs to get over it”
All much more realistic scenarios IMO
Yes.
All the time
It’s sad that when people like that exist, we advise their victims to leave instead of making them leave. I’m guessing everyone who works anywhere has constraints that prevent them from leaving right away, but I’m pretty sure many people do leave because of things like this.
A1 - yes, my intent was to not over think it. No ill will or gaslighting intended. I’ve worked with my fair share of spotlight grabbers and have come to the conclusion that’s simply who they are, and will step in any and everyone, not just me, the quiet introvert
OP - if they are indeed intentionally behaving in this way it’s unacceptable and unprofessional on every level
Yes
That’s a bit of a conspiracy theory. Not sure they put that much thought into it
I'm sure D1 didn't mean it that way. They were trying to say that we might overthink it. Well who knows
I’ve been through this. They know I’m not on my A game when I’m overwhelmed, so they make it happen and take advantage of it. One or two even smirked at me when they did it.
Wow, do you truly believe the people you work with are that cutthroat? Not saying you’re wrong just don’t think I’d stay if that happened to me.
That said, take it as a learning opportunity, don’t let yourself be overwhelmed and try to learn something from each occurrence.
Yeah, I agree with you. Part of the reason why I said I’d leave is because I am assuming this is more of a team culture thing than a one-off. If you don’t believe this is the case then speaking to your manager may be the way to go, though they’re just as likely to say to suck it up.
