I'm not sure one is more important than the other. Hard skills are certainly a requirement in finance, but you have to have a balance of soft skills as well - especially if you are managing others and/or client-facing.

Definitely hard skills. Soft skills are taken for granted or met with defense coming from a black body.
Hard skills. Unless you're client-facing and then both. But hard skills are non-negotiable.
You won’t get an analyst job without hard skills but you won’t move into management without soft skills. My director only looks at PowerPoint Decks, she relies on my manager and all of us analysts to have accurate financial models
