I put my phone away and try to take verbatim notes - try to write down everything people say. It forces me to pay attention
Me too!!
It’s common especially when too many people are invited to meetings or they are too frequent or too long.
Agree with above. Phone away, notifications off, take notes. Be as engaged as possible even if the topic doesn’t directly relate to you - this will not only help in the moment, it can help you in your career when you’re in the know about more than just your scope.
On the other hand, when possible don’t attend meetings if it’s not necessary that you be there and you won’t be engaged. That’s just a waste of your time.
Thank you all! Phone away is definitely valid, and I am so guilty of using it, even with the screen time apps etc. it’s like a demonic addictive fidget toy :(

Put it physically out of reach (e.g. different room) and put it on silent. Use your ADHD tendency towards “Out of sight - out of mind” for good 😉
I have the same struggle, OP.
I make sure I don't check email or multitask this helps me the most.
Yep, I made sure I had my other monitor turned off and ignored outlook today, really helped. Thank you

Two other tips:
- Get something to occupy your hands when not taking notes (fidget cube, stress ball, etc.). Your mind will want to burn off nervous energy.
- Turn off displaying your own video on screen. It’s super exhausting watching yourself. Just be careful not to make faces!
