That's nice, but they still have to know the basics of rote add, sub, mult and divide first.
I don't give a sh*t what this man has to say. Next.
Some people who go on to work with math do need to know the why of its workings. And the why leads to the foundation of a lot of later math.
I do agree there should be more communication and group problem-solving as that is very real world. And math could definitely do with more stats and data analysis. But as long as the standards say what they say, my curriculum is hard to change.
