I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

OP, you're being very short sighted. Apply for other jobs or resign, but don't be immature. Many people would kill to have your paycheck and that brand in their resumes.
Agree. There are people with whom you work who need their jobs to pay their mortgages and actually care about their careers. Your intended sloppiness is going to make their lives very unpleasant. Frankly, in my opinion, this mentality would be enough for me to fire you. I've had jobs that killed my soul too, but nobody is holding a fun to your head to stay there. I've also been laid off and gotten severance too and guess what is worse than a job you don't like? No job at all! If you have enough in savings, resign and go do whatever you want to do. If you don't, know what that is, go backpack or something. If you don't, then apply for jobs. At the end of the day, you have few things and they are usually your reputation, your honor, your education, and your integrity. You'd be flushing most of those down the drain for no good reason. I'm prob not going to convince you. Also, think of the stupid calendar invites that would have to be sent to lay you off. You're going to waste a lot people's time. Be an adult.

Thanks for the advice D3 but I can't resign. There are extenuating circumstances I can't discuss here (aka I don't want to compromise my identity). I have to be laid off
D2 is wrong, everyone who gets laid off gets their accrued vacation because it's mandated by certain state laws. OP, I know two people who got canned for actively applying to other jobs and emailing recruiters from their PwC laptops and PwC emails lol. I know at least 10+ (personally) who got the axe for rolling off projects, whether it was their decision or not.
PwC 3, signing bonus maybe?
Roll off the project to the bench. Proceed to work from home until they lay you off.

I can't discuss the circumstances. I think I'll try my hand at applying to other jobs on my firm laptop 🙃 I'll report back. PS I am still doing all my client work and not acting out etc.
I think every layoff gets the same generic explanation. Be careful what you wish for. Your plan just might backfire on you.
Would really like to know those circumstances that deive you to such a stupid approach. I really can't come up with anything that should make you be so dishonest. I very much hope you don't apply at our firm afterwards.
