True, this all rides on unions
Depends on the contract in the district. If "other duties as assigned" is in there, they likely can, though they'd probably have to pay you for the hour.
I should say that's how it'd be with a union. Not sure that, in Georgia, they'd necessarily have to pay.
All about your MOU...but you're in Georgia so you don't have one. PACE aint helping you out of this one.
I would not think so. This is a duty that falls under other job titles. They have you (and otjers) do the duties that some other job should do, they weasel out of hiring someone.
It seems like it would violate the rights of a couple of different groups in the district.
I also think the nuance between "can they ask" and "can they require" could create gray area
Oh… they are “requiring.”
Our admins have done it
I should say that this is NOT a rotating position. It will just be MY duty every day.
We are on block schedule and have an extra duty every other day. I do tardy sweeps and look up students to send them to class between 1st and 2nd block. On top of that, I am now on a rotation to sub for teachers who did not get subs on my other plan period. The solution our school came up with to address the sub shortage was to make teachers work harder.
Depends on your contract. Check with your union reps.
In Texas, we are guaranteed 45 minutes for planning, grading etc. An administrator can't hijack that time without giving it back somewhere in the day.
For my state, yes. As long as you have 30 minutes per day to yourself.
