Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

Not sure if this helps but here you go. I am a senior 2 in Deloitte US. I applied for a senior position in EY London and got offered 48k pounds. This was lower than what I am making here and it’s a MCOL. So I passed on it. Not sure other European countries are same but hopefully gives u an idea! I tried to negotiate but they were not budgin!
That’s would translate to about a 10-12,000 drop in my US salary, which I’m comfortable doing since they pay OT here in the Netherlands and you get an allowance for a vehicle.
I was in tax at another big 4 in Amsterdam above manager so I can’t really give you a great data point to work with but I will say this: to put together your take home pay you need to add together: base pay + car + holiday pay. So as a SM in tax my base was €7,200, my car (I took cash in lieu of the actual car) was €830, and my holiday pay was just a 13th month of base so €7,200. So you take (7,200+830)*12+7,200=€103,560 converted to USD that’s $122,260. For comparison, I was making $165,000 as a manager in San Francisco. I would have been around at least $210,000 by now if I had stayed in San Francisco. Amsterdam is, according to Numbeo, 31% less expensive to live in than San Francisco. So I definitely earn less than I did/would in San Francisco but my quality of life is absolutely better and I’ll never go bankrupt if I get sick. When moving to Europe, the idea of “your worth” has to be thrown out the window. Europe does not perceive your worth the same as the US does. The salaries are what they are - if you stick with your US mindset of your worth then you will turn down every European job.
PwC I don’t know if you can DM me but if you need any tips/advice I’m available.
