New to the U.S., is the Healthcare Industry (via HIPAA), the only industry in the U.S. that legally mandates having a designated Privacy Officer? So for example, although GLBA has obvious privacy requirements, unlike with healthcare, financial institutions in the U.S. are not mandated by law to have a designated Privacy Officer?

Anyone else here looking to make a switch into healthcare (physician, nurse, etc)?

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise

Rate my offer for a business valuations associate role at a boutique firm in Toronto:
- $90k + ~7.5% annual performance bonus
- $5k in clawback reimbursement
- will pay all professional fees throughout term of employment (CPA & CBV)

My background:
- SA1 in assurance
- Master of Accounting
- passed CFE, qualify in about half a year
- enrolled in CBV program of studies
- 24 yrs old

For those that work at big4, does maternity leave benefit only kick in if you’ve worked for the firm for at least a year? Or does it apply immediately?

Should I disclose or hide the fact that I am on maternity leave? I have an interview with a big law firm in NY. I’m currently working for a law firm in Atlanta. I imagine I will be asked whether I have returned to the office or working remotely from NY. My husband and I have been living in New York since the pandemic to be near family. My current firm asked everyone to go back last week but since I am on leave I didn’t have to. I want to avoid lying without jeopardizing my chances.

I’ve been practicing in traditional labor for about two years now (although about a decade of labor relations experience) but I’m trying to break into employee benefits law. Unfortunately I’m not being given much experience in benefits as I’m pretty typecast as a labor atty. Any advice on how I can go about getting employee benefit experience? Folks making more than £100K: How do you deal with the 60% effective tax rate on the 100-125K bracket? (HMRC gradually reduces your £12,750 personal tax-free allowance to £0.)

This is the first time it is happening to me. With one month to go until the end of the tax year, I'm thinking of making a one-off extra pension contribution next payroll.

Any other effective strategies with only one month to go?
