My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. Anyone leave before their bonus (before knowing what the amount was) and then regret it when it turned out to be a huge bonus? Got a great offer that I want to take but feeling FOMO by leaving the bonus on the table.

And yes, I tried moving the start date and asking them to cover the lost bonus but they said no and it’s still a better offer and it would be irresponsible not to take it.

What’s the etiquette on applying for jobs to test the waters, so to speak?

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

Trying to buy a house and the home inspection identified termites - seller said it was taken care of during gut renovation prior to them moving in? They’ve done inspection every year and no active termites. Is this house still worth it? Aside from this, it’s a dream home 😥
