Overall it's fantastic, but employee benefits are not the reason to work there. Health insurance is fairly expensive, though there is a high deductible/HSA option. The 401k match is somewhat meager, but when factoring in the usual profit share isn't too bad. But the reason to work there is that they get it. They don't tell you how to run your practice, and you have lots of flexibility to do what you want. The firm is small enough that senior management actually knows who you are and you can have a voice into firm policies/beta test technology etc. You have all of the resources you need, and you can treat a ~$5 million client the way a big firm/wirehouse would treat a ~$50 million client. I could go on for a while and it's not perfect, but I highly recommend it.
How is the research, equity analyst, technology.. i am use to a big firm with lots of research and opinions on all asset classes. I am assuming they have traders you can talk to if you have large orders.. thoughts and thank you so much for you input.
The research is fine - our equity research focuses on smaller/niche companies rather than compete with the big boys on the Dow 30-type companies. We do have access to the research of another firm that has very extensive research. Our investment strategy group is really good. The technology is decent - not perfect but pretty good. Almost as importantly, it has gotten a lot better in the last few years and the firm is willing to invest and listen to the FAs to help them run their businesses. They are working hard to keep improving it. We do have an equity and fixed income trading desk which are helpful; they are not trading for their own account. We also have an FA training program though it is only a few years old and I don't know much about it.
Do they have a FA associate training program
Thank you so much for the info. I have a lot of questions but I don’t want to keep bothering you. Sounds like the firm is right on track.
Employer match...what's that?? Hahaha.
