You can, but sometimes booking separate tickets for each may be cheaper. And it always depends on award availability. Try using Alaska airlines or american airlines for searching award flights then book through british airways.
BA charges per flight sector for Avios redemptions regardless of how it’s booked or whether they’re connecting flights. Only advantage may be tax savings (like the high UK and France premium cabin APDs) and change/cancellation fees if you need to change both directions. You might be best off booking as two separate tickets. Note that BA also has quite high fuel surcharges on awards, so using BA might not be a great idea. Given your destination, a Star Alliance carrier like Air Canada or ANA may be a better transfer partner. Roundtrip (including open jaw, as you’re trying to do) business class between the US and Europe is only 88k ANA miles and ANA is an AMEX MR transfer partner.
