If you want them to, then yes. I've never actually understood why people think the two are opposites. You can't have science unless you have faith in something; and you can't have faith in anything unless you exist and interact with the world; I don't know, it just makes sense to me.
I'm not a religious person myself so I'm not the best one to answer. However, I asked this question a few years ago myself and came across the youtube video Mayim Bialik did on this in 2016. She explained it beautifully how they don't contradict each other based on how she views religion.
Both pursue two different paths. In science you have to prove to believe, and in religion you believe without seeing and without proving. I think the only way to keep the two areas in harmony would be to recognize that you can never prove anything related to religion, and yet you are willing to continue practicing it.
I'm not really into organized religion, but I still like to understand God in my own way. I like to think that everything we uncover about biology, chemistry, etc. is just us breaking down the mechanisms that God established to make the world tick. In a way, studying science brings us closer to God
I think so, I've met plenty of people in my field who believe in a higher power, but most of them are not the hardcore, church-attending, fervent type. It's just something that is part of their lives and they'll only bring it up if you ask
Of course! Plenty of historically renowned scientists like Einstein, Newton and Schrodinger all believed in God in their way
Absolutely. I teach at a Christian school so this topic actually comes up fairly frequently. I believe that God created nature, which includes science, so the two go hand in hand as far as I'm concerned.
I certainly hope so. I'm just starting out as a substitute teacher and I need all the help I can get, just trying to make it through one day at a time. If you have a personal faith then it can bring you a lot of strength when you really need it
Without any doubt in my mind, I can tell you that yes, they can coexist. Can't tell you how many times doctors have no logical explanation for how or why something happens, whether good or bad, it's out of our hands. So there must be some higher power, or life is just one big exercise in futility
