May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

Who’s negotiated severance? Any tips?

Quiet quit. Make them let you go and take the severance while you find a new job. Or get one lined up. Don’t over-achieve and give them more than you can mentally handle since you’re already one foot out the door it sounds like.
I did this and maybe it took around 4 months until I was laid off. I mentally felt better, got unemployment, had more time to find something better for my career. Please don’t quit OP, it’s really difficult to find a new job right now. Just stop caring, it’s liberating.

Don't make a decision about your future when you're in a bad mood. The ledge isn't the place.
I went brand side and actively decided to care way less. I work fewer hours with less stress for double the pay and I absolutely do not care about advertising or making “cool work.” I care that my team has work life balance and feel supported and that’s it.
Definitely agree - when I was brand side it was so much less of the ego bs which nobody needs
No job is worth your mental or physical health. If you are walking out, either have a new job lined up or enough savings to live off of for ~2-6 months.
💯 💯 💯 Plan for 6 months if you can.
Give 15% less. They won’t notice it but you notice an increase in your quality of life.
You haven’t lived until you’ve tried 19%
At least you’re not alone 😭 lol
I lasted 30 years and it took you only a few to figure out that it’s BS. Leave when you figure out a plan. It ain’t going to get better brah.

Don’t run from something. Run toward something. And in the meantime, keep collecting a paycheck.
Thought exercise: think of the most difficult and painful thing you’ve ever experienced in your life— It likely wasn’t this job. If you can survive that specific worse situation, this one is survivable too. You might feel powerless to change your circumstances but the first step to do so is to change your perspective and then to formulate a plan.
Give yourself a deadline— like apply for 4-10 jobs per month. Focus on finding a next step that is tied to your core values. Do you value fairness, integrity, and honesty? Maybe apply for roles at a nonprofit you align with. Value achievement and feeling creatively held back? Target jobs with high growth potential like working for a startup.
Put your focus on your next steps rather than feeling as affected by the day to day and it will give you something to feel motivated to move towards. But be kind to yourself too— address burnout whether through therapy, talking with your supervisor, or even taking a leave of absence if it’s affecting your mental health. Even if you feel stuck, take small steps towards your next step as those add up.
What I can tell you is that you have to regularly acknowledge your own value and what you deliver toward the agency's bottom line. Do you feel that you are treated or compensated in line with your value?
We need to end this business.
More so the holding companies
Honestly same. Wanna jump off together?
The 15-years-younger me identifies with you. I was reluctant to say no, and I told myself that working these crazy hours was a badge of honor.
This industry will take everything you’re willing to give, no matter where you work.
So, before switching jobs, I would try out some things first.
Try limiting: if you are a perfectionist (like me), try going with “good enough.” That alone could give you back 10 hours a week.
Try making something non-negotiable: I HAVE to finish up at 5 today because I [am picking up my parents from the airport, have to walk the dog].
Start there and see if anyone notices. And then try more.
In short, see if you can improve the situation before taking a huge leap into potentially the same situation.
Oh, also, use AI.

Why do you want to get talked out of it?
Short term: go for a walk and find a hiding place to cry in.
Long term: start making an exit plan!
How about this to get you off the ledge. Doom scroll on LinkedIn and look at the THOUSANDS of people in our industry who are out of work. If you haven’t heard of the “Ad-pocalypse” you’re living in a bubble of good fortune. Now look at how rapidly Ai is replacing coders and creatives. Then look at Meta’s plan this week to synthesize user data into Gen Ai and create highly tailored 1:1 ad campaigns.
Once you check those things out you may feel differently about giving up a paycheck.

Take a breath. Relax. Go for a walk outside and relax. You need to learn better coping skills and emotional management. Please seek out a therapist who can help you. You need to reframe your situation and focus on the things you can control. That changes everything.
I got laid off and I am not looking back
Take a week off and regroup. If you can’t get your head back in the game after that, quit and take a break doing something else for 6 months and reevaluate. Jumping to a similar job will likely only delay your frustrations, but it’s probably not going to fix your situation.
Don't quit, just get high and slack off all day. If this job is that awful, then fuck them! You don't owe them shit. Just keep networking and making friends in the industry!
