Any role in CBS is not well respected but can be less hours/pressure than client service. Likely no chance for promotion as Director positions are few and far between.
Respectfully disagree. GCO, independence, risk management, bd and public policy are all respected. Pay is less than industry though.
Not at EY, but if it’s in a core business service line, be prepared to take a pay cut and would imagine being a non revenue generator you’d be first to get cut if layoffs did occur ( with the possibility of the audit and consulting lines breaking apart ) this could be a possibility going forward over there
As someone who has worked internally at EY for 8 years, I'm not sure what these other commenters are talking about. If client-facing EY doesn't "respect" internal/CBS roles, that's their own shortcoming. In CBS, we all respect each other and the job security/work-life balance can't be beat. I can't speak for EY Knowledge Mgmt specifically, but I've never known anyone to be fired/laid off and (atleast in IT) we're actually more likely to be doubling our teams with the pending split.
I’ve been in EY internal function for nearly 5 years and have positive experience with my team. However, I’ve been witnessing how EY has been moving internal jobs overseas (i.e. comparatively recent lay-offs in Dallas) and also was friends with a person who worked in EY knowledge, but decided to leave their job for all the reasons mentioned in the other people’s comments above
Prior EYK here. It’s not well respected internally, comp reflects internal role, promotion opportunities at that level are non existent, the last 5yrs have seen at least three rounds of layoffs, and moral is … low. Hours/WLB can be good if you have boundaries.
Not sure what you currently do, but knowledge team at EY is kind of like research group. You will have less growth and salary moving forward and I agree with above comments that it’s not very clear on what happens with the knowledge team during the split. So, I would not make that move this year.
I would be careful as EY has been aggressively moving a lot of internal function jobs overseas. With the split and a lot of uncertainties surrounding it, the risk of layoffs increases
