Career crossroads...or not. I have 18 YOE and make ~450 TC as an IC at a pubco. Promotion not likely for another 3-5 years assuming ppl retire, get promoted themselves, and even then not guaranteed. Ive turned down jobs in past because I am mostly remote and its pretty easy gig with low hours. How long should I keep riding this out or do I need to leave at some point for a "higher level/managing" job?

My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

I primarily use Littler because they have a broad reach and decent rates but I’m wondering whether Bird & Bird, Ogletree, or some other firm has similar pricing and as good or better quality work. I’m entering salary negotiations at a Fortune 500 company and am looking for trustworthy resources for salary data that I can share with the company if they ask where I got my numbers. I know Glassdoor, but what else?

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. Earlier today I was on a video conference call reviewing a Private Label Agreement template with a larger company who wishes to brand label products we develop and manufacture. We came to a very one-sided provision and my sales VP stated “for this one, how can we just say ‘hell no’ ...nicely?” The other person on the call said we can replace the wording with just NFW (no f@$* way) and I said “I will have to add that to the defined terms section so it’s clear”

Salary check. I am currently an in house attorney. 12 YOE. Large company with great coworkers doing regulatory work for the insurance industry. Good work life balance. I live in a high COL city. Out of curiosity and to test the market, I interviewed at a FAANG. Did not get the job, but found out TC was 350k, significantly higher than my TC 230k. I thought I was compensated fairly, but would love to see your thoughts.

Is anyone applying to in-house jobs and wondering how to find out salary range before investing too much time with interviews? I would like to avoid asking about salary up front but I don’t see any other way to find this information.
