If you want to network, reach out to the youngsters. When it comes time to interview, we take their input seriously.
I don’t get any bonuses for referring in juniors.
Other MD’s, yeah, I get some comp.
I’ve got two kids of my referral sources who I put up for internships and are in the interview process now. Basically gets them past the first screen, then it’s up to them to get beyond the juniors.
Mentor
If you impress an Associate or a VP, it will help move you up the chain to others, such as an MD.
If you impress an MD, not that you won’t need to network with Associates/VPs, it means less than the former.
Also, everyone reaches out and networks with Aso/VPs. MDs don’t typically network as much with An/Aso’s. So if you’re able to network directly at the top, do it.
