Cogno AI Hey fishes, One of my friends, got offer in cognizant. She have an epfo account with inactive UAN and she changed her name in aadhar recently and this epfo account has the past name. So she raised request for name change 2 months ago and still it's processing. And now cognizant asking the acknowledgement of changed name which the previous company cannot provide for obvious reasons. Will it affect the doj? Or anyone had this kind of problem before? Apologize for having a convo with myself but this is a huge opportunity for me and anxiety level is high on this.
I believe I see that MPRE isn’t required if an applicant is waiving in on motion based on having practiced for 3 years and it’s only required if trying to waive in with a score.

I am barred in MD and DC. Did not take the MPRE initially bc it was not required for MD, but when I wanted to waive into DC, I just took the MPRE. This was 7+ years ago before MD adopted UBE.
Sounds like your best bet is to just take the MPRE- it is not as intense as studying for the bar- I studied for it while working at my firm full time and passed. Very manageable with work/family and since you’ve been practicing for awhile, a lot of the fact patterns will seem intuitive.
Thank you for the specific example. It’s very helpful and eases my anxiety (which caused me to post on two bowls and talk to myself for the past few hours lol).
Not DC so not sure how helpful this is but I didn’t need the MPRE to get barred in NJ and when I moved to a new jurisdiction I just took the MPRE and that was all.
Background: Barred in MD; got and accepted an offer for big law firm to work remotely from VA; offer letter stated I needed to get barred in DC bc they have an office there.
I thought I can waive in on the 3-year provision but apparently need the MPRE and if I’m reading correctly, that has to be taken within one-year of the bar. Maryland did not require the MPRE and I’ve been in good standing for three years. It would be awful if I had to turn this down.
I cannot retake the bar with the possibility of losing my job if I don’t pass. Have a family including a baby.
