I almost feel like we could be moving in that direction in the very near future. Do you put prefer not to answer? That is what I’ve been going with. The argument for and against is making less sense. And as far as I know it is purely an American thing to be asking for it even on job applications.

It's still the law. Someone can rage against diversity and sign executive orders, but the laws as passed by Congress would still apply. Now, given the current SC that may be struck down, but that's yet to happen.
What law are you referring to?
And are you admitting that companies are hiring people based on their race?
Yep I have to agree because at this point why does it even matter?
It matters because they are using that data to pick and chose who they hire.

As someone that’s heavily involved with hiring for a global company, I can tell you for a fact no one is using that info to truly make hire/reject decisions at our place. There’s a million reasons to think the system is corrupt, it just sounds/feels believable, but we’re the ones in the system in most cases. Agree this info doesn’t need to be collected, but it’s homeostasis, no one bothers to revamp the questions and processes every so often.
You are wrong. Many court cases in current lawsuits going through the court system refute your claim.
Not to mention historically, this is wrong.
