Company took a page from Elon and notified everyone that we are expected to work hard, long hours, and that we’re to be available for all weekends, vacations and holidays. I’ve taken 5 vacation days this year, most of which have been interrupted, and though weekends are normally “free” (work starts rolling Sunday night) holidays are often interrupted. So practically this doesn’t change anything, but I’m very irked about this transitioning from “above and beyond” to “expected”. What do I do?

They just salary capped everyone and did some demotions in order to pay everybody less.

You should leave for your own good - before you are irrevocably damaged by this kind of environment. You should also leave for the good of society- let them know this is not normal and should not be tolerated.

Planning a trip to Rome and Naples with day trips to Tivoli and Pompeii. Is 1 week enough? I feel like reading through 3/4 day Rome and 2 day Naples itineraries, the trip seems rushed. I have unlimited PTO but my SO is limited in time (but luckily he can work extra hrs and then use less PTO). I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out

I have a Deloitte PDM offer. I’ve read about the positives/negatives and I’m so torn. When my recruiter says I’ll have “144 hours” of PTO (18 days), will I definitely still run into the utilization trap of not being able to take it? Are all projects 40-42 hr weekly caps? Third question: I’m new in the DC area, are PDMs invited to firm socials? Trying to make friends! Thanks in advance

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this post Series C start-up equity offer? It’s an IP director position, the the base is $170 with 10% bonus (both lower than I was expecting). There’s also an equity component: 0.15% of current fully diluted equity. This equates to about 30000 shares at a strike price of $2. They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.

Got another perm offer in a different industry for similar salary, but I might have to relocate and I'm concerned the work may involve translation instead of pure legal work.
