Confession: I feel guilty calling out… even when I actually need it. Like I’m letting my team down. Even though I know that’s not really fair. Does anyone else feel like this?

I was once like you. Gave 110% of myself to my patients and assignment. Felt guilty asking for time off for not feeling well so would often medicate, mask up, and work my shift as a CNA.
it wasn't until years later when I became a nurse, that an ex coworker passed away. I went to her wake and her administrator was there as well and came up to me during the reception offering me the job she held when she passed.
Take your PTO, your vacations, your floating holidays. You can be replaced at any moment at work. Odds are, you can't be replaced at home.
it's all about perspective 😉

Oh wow, offering you her job AT the wake?? Talk about poor taste. I can see how that’d really open your eyes!

Don't feel bad if you need it. Take care of yourself. Just be as helpful as possible about it. Call as early as you can so they have time to find coverage (calling 8-12+ hours in advance is super helpful!!)

I always try to call as early as possible, but I’m also like one “you sure?” away from totally giving in and powering through that shift😅

How do you determine whether your inability to get out of bed in the mornings is due to depression or mere avoidance of all the crushing work and stress that awaits you? Still WFH and now beginning to get worried at how late I’m getting out of bed these last few weeks and feeling completely unmotivated to do anything.

Had my virtual on-site for an S&O L3 role 3.5 weeks ago (NYC, 5 YOE). I haven’t heard back on a decision yet, and was wondering how long it typically takes? I also know that I was one of the very first candidates to interview for this specific role, and there are atleast 2 more people scheduled for onsites. Does the recruiter typically wait for all candidates to finish their onsites before communicating a decision? Or if I haven’t heard back yet, it’s probably a reject?

I'm an RN of 7 years, experience as a coordinator, on committees and do all the things. But now I just don't want to go to work anymore. But where do I go? I think I need to step out of patient care.

I've been working in the NHS as an orthopaedic surgeon for over 10 years. I have recently made the transition over to industry working for a pharmcovigilance and certification body TUV SUD. Early signs are great. I know several clinicians who are currently advocating the overworked underpaid mantra and would like a referral. Let me know if you are keen to hear more.

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

Interviewing for BIOLIFE today and looking to gain insight from anyone who works for the company.

I have an interview for a LTC/Rehab Nurse Manager, Infection Preventionist position next week. My base salary is $40/hour as a charge nurse. With overtime I’ll be finishing the year about $15000 above my base pay. I have questions: first, I know I’ll be putting in at least the same number of hours I’m current working (50+/wk). How do I leverage that to avoid a pay cut. Also, any tips from people in this position?
