Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I quit consulting, moved to industry and couldn't be happier. I see my son every day and make about the same amount of money.
Same. I’m going to quit soon. Can’t take it anymore. Career is going nowhere here anyway because family demands mean I can’t travel so my utilization sucks and advancement prospects are slim. Time to bolt
We are in the same situation. It’s not easy. We have struggled for the most part. Wife told her firm that she will only do local projects - which has affected her utilization and trajectory. Personally I don’t think it’s sustainable unless w bring in help who can spend the night with our son when we both are traveling. At some point in time one of us will need to change our job.
Full time nanny, or one switch to non travel role. I have seen both work.
One of you needs to quit. Don’t leave your girl at home with a nanny overnite on a regular basis IMO
