I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own.There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. I am looking for my first permanent UI/UX or Product design role. I am currently working on as a contractor in Canada. It’s becoming really difficult to land a permanent role and I really want job security.

If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

Beginning to think I structured a (freelance) project poorly. Deliverables are 3-5 T-shirt designs, which will *also* serve as part of foundation for their existing branding.
I’m working at my hourly rate, and delivered several concept sketches. Since they want to use these designs for multiple swag items beyond T-shirts, should I have included licensing fees per usage (mugs, etc), or just raised my hrly rate? Or just do flat rate per concept that details usage options?
