Working for a small RIA on 1099. I receive about 80% payout AUM and the firm covers port mgmt, marketing, and a client service rep. However no other benefits such as office, health, 401k, bonus. Stay?

Are you just bringing in clients?

80% is not a bad number based on the information in your post, but there’s a lot of variables. Are you unhappy with the firm or just wondering how the arrangement compares?

Don’t forget they are also covering compliance if they are the RIA. And it also depends on what marketing you have going on. Do they cover the financial planning apps?

So many variables to consider

This might be philosophical but wanted to understand if we should get satisfied and be happy with what we have or keep striving for more?

Reason I am asking this is - I earn close to 1.5 lakhs every month and if someone had told me this during my college days I would have taken it eyes closed thinking this is more than enough. But today, I am not able to be satisfied and I don't want this to become an affliction so thought to share with others here and get to know the general sentiments.

I’ve worked at places that all have different holiday policies. EA has at minimum a nice 10 day shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Years. It’s great to know that there will be no slack messages or an exploded inbox to come back to while away. I’ve been at other studios that only give you Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Eve & Day and then the rest is up to you to request for PTO and this is obviously the suck.

Wonder what it’s like for you?
