Most agencies are already mostly out of DC. I worked for one agency with like 5% of its staff in DC. Most of the admin and training staff were in the midwest and south east. Field staff were nationwide. It was largely just the senior leadership, legal, policy, and other offices that had a reason to be near congress and other agencies. That's actually quite common across agencies. I'm not opposed to moving some more out, like BLM and AG, but I think there is a significant overestimation of how many feds are actually in DC. It's not like Nebraska would get a mountain of new jobs if AG moved, because a lot of AG is already dispursed, and certain elements of it that are heaviest in DC, like legal and policy, have a strong reason to be next to the Hill, certain DC courts, and, other agencies.
I'd also add that almost every remote employee my office has hired is in a middle American state. But apparently remote work needs to end.
