My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.

Title - Yes, almost always. Especially at junior / close to entry levels.
Salary - No, there’s abso no reason whatsoever to take a pay cut.

No. Don’t let them tell you it is. I had 4 staff go that way and get a bump in title.
Also, assuming you're DS, one was SA>C and one was SM>SM, which are definitely not bumps
Def seems to be common practice for B4–> Mbb
Depends on geo as well. The pay diff is humongous in certain countries that you can justify dropping a level and still have a 30% bump.
