What is it that you want to say and do you think it would be appropriate for you to do so? The only thing appropriate is to understand interview process, and # and type of interviews. Complaining or questioning value of them in any way is not appropriate. Play the game , I know it’s frustrating.
When I was working in industry, I applied for a higher position in a dif department, had 11 interviews, was offered the job yet no pay increase (despite higher pay band for job), citing that they didn’t support cross-departmental pay increases - naturally I declined and left the company for 45k increase at Deloitte, now making 3x more within 6 years.
I had 8 before landing my role.
So happy I stuck through it and left consulting.
Ask about expectations? I always knew this would be the case so can’t complain.
On the other hand, when I interviewed with slalom, they kept scheduling interviews without an expectation, waiting for a project to become available. I moved on.
I am going through the same process for a SM role at EY. Has been 3 months now. 7, 1:1 video interviews with different levels over this period of time. Don't want to say anything bc it can come across as needy and put me at a disadvantage if they make an offer and I want to negotiate salary.
More pronounced in industry due to the virtual interviewing nature the employer is afraid of making a mistake when it comes to cultural fit within their organization. The more interviews simply means the hiring authority is looking to spread the risk of making a mistake and hiring a poor candidate.
EY is notoriously slow for SM. They dragged my friend for four months and then didn’t make an offer. Easier to go in as M.
Yea, I believe they stall until its concrete you will be staffed if hired due to high bill rate. Kind of same as the ole lose the client lose your job concept.
