Wealthsimple longevity’s is in question. They’ve drastically cut marketing budgets and resources, they’ve also done org wide restructuring due to the layoffs the did on June 15. Company strategy seems to be in flux. Culture has taken a hit and morale is extremely low since the layoffs. There is also rumours of them removing some perks and benefits to further cost cut.

I’m in the marketing department and want to update this thread based on the 11 month old feedback above. Morale had taken a hit but the company is doing well, having weathered a storm that hit all of tech, there’s a new CMO who has vision, and we’ve had a solid marketing budget restored. It’s still be best company I’ve ever worked at, and I’ve been doing this a long time.

Wealthsimple is the best company I have worked at. Having worked at 4 other companies including MNCs.

My joining date is tomorrow in TCS but still I did not get onboard email. Recruiter is saying bgv is still pending and delay of joining. Why delay in bgv process and postpone the joining date in TCS? I am bit worrying that how many days it takes for onboard.

Looking for additional perspectives on my current situation.

Currently a vp in corporate strategy at a bulge bracket Bank and am up for promotion to svp. I've got a verbal offer to work as a vp corporate strategy at a smaller non-us Bank at almost 2x what I currently make

Economically, the second role is far superior. However I feel my exit ops would be extremely limited.

Is it worth negotiating with my current firm and get reasonably close to this offer (cont'd in comments)

Please, I need your opinion on this. I have 6 years of experience as a software developer and just finished my masters degree in data science. Now I am looking for a job here in the US. I went through the hiring process with this company and finally got an offer. They offered 88k/year and I responded opening a negotiation. They emailed me back saying that I am no longer in this process anymore with no further explanation and in Thanksgiving day. Is that normal?that email really got me very upset

I accepted an offer but am realizing that I low balled myself pretty bad. I know counterparts are making way more than me and I have about 9 years of experience. Now that I’m in the role, how should I go about speaking with my manager on getting to the next pay level and getting to where I should be? I should be at least $20k higher right now.

Recently, i was "promoted" or, I should say, my title was changed to the next ring up the ladder. As a part of this, I went from reporting to Senior Management, to Junior Management. The Jr. Manager has good intentions, but, is not helpful. I've worked at the company longer, have accomplished more across multiple lines of business and have a much stronger internal network. Am I overreacting thinking this is a major slight that will ultimately slow down my growth within the company?

Hi all! Currently in the process of a career pivot and had a question. My current company wants me to come back for a two week project in August. Is this too big of an ask on a new employer if I request unpaid leave for this time? I had asked them about delaying start date until this project is over but it was too far away, and I’ll start this month instead but haven’t yet. I don’t want to leave or start on a bad note so wondering if it’s even worth bringing up. Thanks!

Just got let go from my second agency job in six months because of client budget cuts. Anyone got any advice for moving to client side??

Been at company many years and rebuilt dysfunctional team into high performers while also driving huge metrics and impact. Recently interviewed for elevated role and CEO congratulated me and told me I slayed it and he was proud of me. This is 2nd time I’ve applied for this job and found out yesterday my boss (not CEO) hired external. Don’t feel valued and I’m likely quitting without job. I’ve been through the ringer at this place/boss. Am I making a mistake for leaving without another job?

Anybody take the leap and quit without another job? I have plenty of savings, just worried about finding the right job after a few months break. Would love to hear experiences good or bad.

I have been offered a lateral move within my company to a role I (believe) I will be more interested in that will suit my skills more. However, I’ve now been offered a promotion in my existing Role, and have heard that this is a pretty big deal and almost fast track to Director. Am I mad to pass up a promotion for a lateral move that is unlikely to promote me for some time?? I’ve been in my existing role almost 2yr. Will it affect my future growth? I’m 30 so would love to be a director soon

I work in a corp environment & wondering what others think about this -

I have a large team and after me, I have a supervisor and a manager who my supervisor reports to. The manager recently got promoted to director & my boss is likely to take her role within the next 6 mos.

I was promoted in aug and wondering if it’s crazy to ask for another promo after my boss gets manager. This wouldn’t be for 6-12mos & I will be in my role for close to a year.

Is this too soon to ask? TIA!

Is asking for a raise at a company I’ve been at for 6 months to soon? I believe the work I’ve been doing is worth more than what I’m making now

I just received a great offer, but accepting it would require me to give up a 4-week paid sabbatical that’s coming up in a month with my current employer. How can I negotiate a late start? For an L7, senior role, can you negotiate a 2 month late start with a potential new employer?
