I recommend shinsekai yori (from the new world). Also very underrated but it’s has some very dark dystopian elements to it. A bit of a slow burn but definitely pays off as the story unravels

I second death note, it’s a classic and very good (even if they jack up the anime ending vs the manga).
Also check out psycho pass! One of my favorites.
This is a little different, but definitely dark and suspenseful - there’s a really good anime called Erased/boku dake ga inai machi that is underappreciated.

About to finish my first year. I’m a specialist. Only going to hit 65% of my hours (took a 4 week vacation cause of wedding/hm).
