It's simple really: where are you physically sitting when you work? Bill to that place.
PwC1 - how is this a tax fraud? I am asking for a legitimate question where I have WFH for several months but have been charging my hours to the home city location. Thanks for adding zero value.
Tax fraud
#JustDeloitteThings
P1 has it. The place you are physically working from. Don't pay city tax you don't have to. PTO and holidays should always be your assigned office location.
Simple rule "where your feet is"
Also, the big caveat to the "where your feet is" relates to working in transit, especially in flight. I believe our policy is that those hours accrue to the starting location, and once you land/arrive, you've entered a new tax jurisdiction. This can get really ugly traveling midday or WFH during the evening when technically you have 2 jurisdictions per day (can you tell I don't feel like working right now?)
When you say "my office city" do you me your Deloitte home office or your client office?
A1 - My client is in a different state. I live in a suburb outside of the Deloitte office
It has zero tax implication. Deloitte pays all taxes in excess of your non-travel rate
@D1, can you explain more? Is this the tax equalization service? I owe so much in New York taxes just because of client travel UGH
Yep, short term tax equalization. They pay any excess taxes over your local rate and give you $40 for each extra state filing
Okay great. I signed up for that
Again,ny is different, but most states is where you physically are.ny will tax you even if the client is in N.Y.
Sorry but duh
