So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Wait—they’re using personality tests to determine raises? I’ve never even heard of such a thing. There’s no way that’s legal.
I wonder if anyone here who has legal experience can explain how we can avoid situations like this or report businesses for that? Using tests like that is so absurdly stupid
Those inane tests are part of the trend of having a personality-driven culture. My understanding is that they're not explicitly illegal, but they're questionable. If the tests filter out people with personality traits that could correspond to protected groups, that could be actionable. The people who create those tests often warn against using them for promotions as they weren't designed for that. But management types love thinking they've found a hack to bolster the cult of extroversion. What a world.

Personality tests for "team development" are legal. Using them as promotion criteria gets legally murky – especially if "extrovert" isn't a genuine job requirement. They can't discriminate based on protected classes, but "working style preferences" live in a convenient gray area.
The real issue: you can't prove they denied your promotion because of DISC results versus "culture fit" or "leadership presence" – corporate speak for the same bias. If comp decisions hinge on whether you're an ENFP, start documenting performance metrics that contradict their personality-based reasoning. Then update your resume.
